Can A Person Who Purchased My Storage Unit Sell It Back To Me for Thousands?
share the love asked:
I am a struggling, yet accomplished artist who recently lost my enormous archives of original sketches, movie scripts, cartoon illustrations, and toy proto-types in a public storage. This is so humiliating and hurtful, but after I lost my job with a major publishing company, and lost my home, I fell behind three months on my storage. The sell was yesterday, and the guy who purchased the unit at the auction was given my number to contact me, as all the property is copyrighted archives, and proto type designs, and it’s not like he could sell it. The big catch here, is that I was involved in a high profie copyright infringement lawsuit with a major studio, and my case files were in the unit. Today, the guy that purchased unit, called me from a blocked number and said he has researched me, and before he sells me back my belongings he is going to have the work valued. I feel soo terrible, and would not wish this on anyone. What can I do legally? The guy called me once, and I also got a prank call, regarding my unit. Does anyone have any suggestions.
