Is it possible to fire an agent and still be able to find another agent to sell my home?
I have had my home listed for just about 35-40 days. When I met my realtor, he talked a great game at my kitchen table. I really thought he knew what he was doing and was going to work for me. However, everything has fell apart with him. He says one thing and then completely says something different in the next call, email or text. He had several things listed incorrectly in my listing, such as stated I had brick fireplace when it is ceramic tile, said we were all electric when we have some gas. He does not believe in advertising the selling points of my home such as deck, storage shed and many others. He states we should let them be surprised when they get here. He doesn’t follow through with calling when he is suppose to or sending information he is suppose to. He is always busy with personal things and is the excuse when he does not do what he says he will. There are so many things in less than a month that in my opinion has been poor customer service and completely unprofessional. I am in a 6 month agreement, which I thought I had no option. I really need to sell my home, but it is going to be difficult to do with this guy.
Any suggestions?
I did have a sit down with him a week ago today. I discussed my concerns and still having the same problems. I asked for him to call me last night. He send me email stating he would call me at 4:30 today. Of course, I couldn’t talk at the minute he called at 4:30. He said he would call in an hour or two and then I got an email stating I was busy at 4:30 and now he does not have time to call me until Wed after 5 pm. It is Monday. I never stated 4:30 was a good time. I guess I will try going to the broker.
I think I will go to the broker and see where I can get with that.

Report him to his broker, unless of course he is the broker. If that doesn’t work ask him to accurately update update your listing (do it in writing) if he does not comply then report him to the local board of Realtors. They have ethics and standards to uphold and he sounds a little shady… skr
It happens unfortunately that in order to get the listing the agent tells you what you want to
He may not even have been the one entering the information
hear…….first make an effort to sit down and talk with the agent..let him know that you are unhappy with the first month of service…….you mention that he doesn’t advertise the things you consider
the selling points of your home…most buyers today are internet lookers first…so the pictures of
your home are going to be the first step in getting the buyer to your home……has he given you
any showings of the home, or have other agents shown it? He should be able to provide
you with some “feedback” as to what their opinions are. Remember that the only way he gets
paid is to find a buyer for your home
in his office about the listing….those items can be taken care of. Have you staged the home for
sale…got rid of all that extra “stuff” that you have collected and is not being used……..make the
rooms look huge, clear out the clutter, and you will get that home sold. This market is difficult
so both you and your agent do need to work together to make it happen. Best of luck! MOB
