If the ownership changes and the new owners knew that I had pets can they now tell me to get ride of them?

I am a manager at a secured storage facility and I live on site. I informed the owner that I had pets and they agreed to allow them on property. The ownership changed recently and they were aware that I had pets and now the new owner said that she wanted the pets gone and that I had 2 days in which to find a new home for them. Do they have a right to do that?

They own it, you don’t. Was it ever in writing that you were allowed pets? That would be about the only loop-hole, the lease agreement signed by all parties. Casie

If your original lease said pets were acceptable and the new owners did not make you sign a new lease saying otherwise, then you are okay. But if pets were not specified in the 1st lease and it was just a gentlemen’s agreement, then you have no legal recourse to keep the pets. ErinFromOz

Well the key is do you have a written lease? If not, they can pretty much do what they want, they now own the facilities. But if you have a written lease, they can’t break that. But they could change it when it expires. So I would suggest consulting with an attorney if you have a lease. Most attorneys will do one free consult. DJ B

Yes, they have the right. They own the place and are your employer, they can determine if they want pets on their property and if they want pets on their job site. Landlord
