Stormy asked:

I am in the midst of starting a non-profit organization in my community, and I am looking for a location. I have the perfect location a former elementary school, but it’s being occupied for storage. I really want to have the property be the flagship of the organization so that the members of the community would not have to commute across town. The school is a street over from my grandmothers home. Please help. How can I go about finding the renters and maybe buy them out of the property. This organization would be great for the community.

Go down to your Town Hall and find the Registry of Deeds. They can help you figure out who owns it. If it is still part of the School District, they will know. (Districts often use their own property for storage, it may not be rented out.) PennyLeeD2

Most likely the town or school district is the property owner.

Real Estate deeds are a public thing, and you can look up the owner of any piece of property by visiting the city clerks office at the town hall (or a county goverment buildings if your local goverment is county based). mykatesmom
